Getting set up

Four things to set up, in the order the setup wizard walks through them — what each needs, and what works before any of it.

Works right away, on any device

Prepare writes practice questions, flashcards and study guides from your own uploads and the free OpenStax nursing texts for your courses; Notes, Textbooks, Group and Chat need nothing connected. Practice scores are not course grades, and practice questions can be wrong — check anything you're unsure of against your course material.

Canvas, ATI and course files — Chrome on a computer, once

Install the MyNurse browser extension (version 0.6.1 or later) in Chrome on a computer, pair it to your account from Set up MyNurse, and press Sync with Canvas open: your courses, assignments, grades and course files come in. Do the same on your ATI results page for your ATI scores. It only reads the pages you are signed in to; it never signs in for you and never writes to Canvas or ATI.

Needs Chrome on a computer, once. A phone shows everything it brings in.

School email — optional

Mail always shows your Canvas inbox messages. School email arrives only through the extension, which reads your Outlook on the web Inbox while it is open in the same browser; the computer that runs MyNurse can push its own Apple Mail instead. Without one of those, Mail is your Canvas messages — not empty.

Your due dates — from a phone

Paste your Canvas calendar-feed link once (Canvas → Calendar → Calendar Feed) in Settings → Connections. Your assignments, quizzes and class, lab and clinical times then sit in one ordered list and stay in sync.

On your phone

Add MyNurse to your home screen (iPhone: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen; Android: Chrome menu → Install app). Everything the extension brought in shows there; the extension itself only runs on a computer.

What each tab does

  • Today. What's due, what's next and today's classes, on one screen to start every day.
  • Calendar. Your classes, clinicals, exams and due dates from Canvas, in one calendar.
  • Prepare. Practice tests, quizzes and flashcards written from your own course material, for your next quiz or exam.
  • Study guides. A Cornell fill-in study guide for every unit, side by side with the answer key, rewritten when new slides arrive.
  • NCLEX Prep. NCLEX-style drills on the client-needs areas and ATI topics you need most, from the courses you have taken.
  • Courses and Grades. Each course's files, work and teachers, and your current Canvas grade with the graded work behind it.
  • Mail. Your Canvas inbox messages in one list.
  • Chat. Ask the study model about your coursework. It is a study aid, not a clinical reference: check facts against your sources.
  • Settings → Connections. Save your Canvas calendar link here, and pair the MyNurse browser extension, which syncs Canvas and ATI into the app.

What to expect from the server

MyNurse runs on one server on Cloudflare's network, looked after by one person, for a small invite-only group — with no uptime guarantee. Check Status when something looks stale, and keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose. Once you are signed in, Your material lists exactly what is stored for your account, where it came from and the limits on each.
